Setting Type Compounds
CGC and SYNKO setting type compounds are recommended by
professionals and DIYers alike for their performance and ease of
use.
SHEETROCK®, DURABOND®, Pro-Set Lite Sand and Fast Set
Setting-Type Joint Compounds are asbestos-free, chemically setting
compounds for interior gypsum panels, and exterior gypsum ceiling
boards, that permit same-day joint finishing, and usually next-day
decoration. Setting type compounds are used in place of regular
ready mixed compounds when quick setting is required.
Setting type compounds are lightweight for easy handling and
sand easily for fast, smooth finishing. They are ideal for heavy
fills such as cracks, holes, and wall dent repairs. To meet
varying job requirements, CGC and SYNKO setting type compounds
provide a choice in setting times (indicated by a number) that tell
you how long (minutes) it would take for the compound to harden
(not dry). An example of this would be the SHEETROCK® 90
product that sets in approximately 85-130 minutes. For CGC branded
products, setting times are 20, 45, and 90 minutes. For SYNKO
branded products, setting times are 30, 60, and 90 minutes.
