SHEETROCK Brand Gypsum Panels - FIRECODE and FIRECODE C Core are factory-fabricated, composed of a fire-resistant gypsum core encased in heavy natural-finish paper on the face side and strong liner paper on the back side. Both the face and back papers are manufactured with 100% recycled paper. Made in 12.7 mm (1/2") and 15.9 mm (5/8") thicknesses, SHEETROCK Brand Gypsum Panels - FIRECODE and FIRECODE C Core offer a specially formulated gypsum mineral core that provides fire resistance superior to that offered by regular gypsum panels.  Systems using SHEETROCK Brand Gypsum Panels have qualified for fire ratings up to 4 hours in walls, 3 hours in ceilings, and 4 hours on columns, giving you added peace of mind.
