CGC Fire Wall System
CGC Fire Wall Systems provide fire-rated protection between
common walls in townhouse construction. They weigh at least
50% less than masonry walls and install easily.
CGC Fire Wall Systems are lightweight, non-load bearing gypsum
panel partition assemblies that provide fire-rated protection
between common walls in townhouse construction. The System
remains structurally independent of adjacent units in the event of
a fire. Aluminum breakaway clips burn off allowing the Separation
Wall System to detach on the fire side, while the clips on the
non-fire side remain intact and support the system. As
opposed to masonry or tilt-up construction, CGC Fire Wall Systems
are installed during the framing process along the property line
between adjacent units. This "frame-as-you-go" method allows for a
faster project schedule with fewer interruptions, unlike masonry
separation walls that would typically be constructed before framing
begins.
The System weighs at least 50% less than masonry walls and is
3-1/2" thick, compared to typical 8"-12" masonry walls.
