Office Environments
What ceiling panels work
best in office environments?
For open plan offices, ceiling panels with a minimum Noise
Reduction Coefficient (NRC) range of .65-.75 work well. For
combined (open/private) office plans, slightly lower NRC ratings
work well; however, we suggest a NRC range .60-70 or higher.
What ceiling panels work best
in private offices?
For private offices, select ceiling panels that reduce sound
transmission between rooms and offer a high Ceiling Attenuation
Class (CAC) value. A CAC of 40-44 is ideal for a private
office.
Can ceiling system damage be
avoided when hanging objects from it?
Yes, we offer special hanging accessories. Call 1.800.USG.4YOU for
more information.
Can ceiling panels reduce
employee eye strain?
Ceilings with high light reflectance (LR) help reduce computer eye
strain, which can lead to employee fatigue. Our Mars ClimaPlus™
ceiling panels has the industry's highest LR rating of .92 with the
average for panels from .70s to .80. Anything above LR .85 is
considered high. Look for panels with a LR value of more than.80 to
reduce eye strain.
Should metal ceiling panels be
used in office environments?
Metal ceilings are excellent design elements for office
environments. Although they do not absorb sound, the ceiling can
reflect light and add height and depth to a space. For sound
control, consider our Panz™ metal perforated panels with
AcoustiBond™ Backer for a solid NRC of .65 to quiet any space.
