Maintenance
How should CGC
Ceilings™ be cleaned?
CGC ceiling panels can be cleaned easily with a soft brush or
vacuum. Some may be scrubbed or wiped clean where noted. Remove the
ceiling tile and clean the suspension system with a non-solvent
based commercial cleaner.
What CGC ceiling tile can
be scrubbed or wiped clean?
CGC's vinyl-faced ceiling tile can be cleaned easily with a damp
sponge. The following tiles have a vinyl face: Clean Room
ClimaPlus, Orion 210, Premier Hi-Lite ClimaPlus, SHEETROCK® Brand
Lay-in Clean Room Vinyl.
Can I repaint an acoustical
ceiling? If so, will it affect the ceiling's acoustical
performance?
An acoustical ceiling can be repainted, however its acoustical
performance may be reduced. Paint and the application method can
alter the performance (including fire rating) of any acoustical
product. Therefore, CGC cannot guarantee that field-painted tiles
will match published performance ratings. To paint tile, spray on a
thinned, non-bridging vinyl-acrylic flat wall paint. To repaint the
suspension system use a high-quality solvent-based paint and apply
as recommended by the paint manufacturer.
How can I avoid fingerprints
on ceiling panels?
When handing acoustical ceiling tile, either wear clean work gloves
or make sure your hands are clean. The tiles should only be handled
by the edges to avoid unnecessary contact with the exposed finished
surface.
What causes black marks on
ceiling panels around air diffusers?
Black marks around an air diffuser are usually dirt deposited by
the air moving across the surface of the panel. It can also be an
indication of an ineffective HVAC filter system, or a circulating
air pattern that's depositing accumulated dust and dirt on a tile
surface.
Can I wet clean a CGC
ceiling?
Wet cleaning is not recommended. Only panels with a non-perforated
vinyl face can be cleaned with a damp cloth as well as the
grid.
