Recycled Content
What is the recycled
content of CGC ceiling products?
Our ceiling products range from 25-95 percent recycled content
based on a weighted average of component materials.
What recycled or renewable
materials are used in CGC ceiling products?
We use post consumer waste paper, cornstarch, slag (a byproduct of
iron-ore production), and synthetic gypsum (a byproduct of the flue
gas desulfurization process) in our ceiling products. Ceiling tiles
that are damaged during the manufacturing process are
recycled.
What is the recycled content
of CGC DONN Brand suspension systems?
DONN Brand systems have a recycled content of 90 percent for
aluminum suspension systems and 25 percent for steel suspension
systems.
Does CGC recycle its
ceiling products?
Yes. We recycle tiles damaged during the manufacturing process. In
addition, our grid can be 100 percent recycled by re-melting and
salvaging the metal.
What is LEED™ ?
The LEED™ system is a voluntary market-driven building rating
system. It evaluates environmental performance from a "whole
building" perspective and provides a standard for what constitutes
a "green building". All commercial buildings are eligible for
consideration as a LEED building.
LEED™ is a self-certifying system where credits are earned for
satisfying specific criteria. A registered professional
engineer and/or architect is required to sign and seal applications
and submit a statement that a building meets one of the LEED™
qualification levels. The U.S. Green Building Council has a
committee that then reviews all applications.
