CGC Inc. names Sean Maynard to lead Western Canada Operations

Mr. Maynard has been appointed Plant Manager for CGC’s facilities in Surrey, Port Kells, Calgary and Winnipeg
Most recently, he served as Startup Manager for CGC’s new $210 million Wheatland wallboard plant in Alberta, helping guide the facility through its final stages ahead of opening
His appointment supports coordination across CGC’s broader Western Canadian network as the company prepares for the Wheatland plant’s official opening in June
OAKVILLE, ON, June 1, 2026 — CGC Inc. (“CGC”), a leading Canadian manufacturer of gypsum-based building materials and performance ceilings, today announced that Sean Maynard has been appointed Plant Manager, Western Canada. In this role, Mr. Maynard will oversee CGC’s Western Canadian operations in Surrey, Port Kells, Calgary and Winnipeg, helping lead the company’s manufacturing and distribution network across the region. The Wheatland facility will continue under the leadership of Duane Van Duuren, Plant Manager, Wheatland. Sean’s appointment comes at an important time for CGC in Western Canada,” said Steve Youngblut, President of CGC. “As we prepare for the official opening of Wheatland and continue strengthening our regional network, Sean brings the operational experience and leadership needed to support our teams in Surrey, Port Kells, Calgary and Winnipeg and strengthen coordination across the West.A 32-year veteran of USG, Mr. Maynard has held a range of management roles in Canada and the United States. He began his career at the Stony Point, New York plant, later held leadership roles in Norfolk, Virginia, and subsequently became Operations Manager in Rainier, Oregon. In 2023, he joined the OPEX team as Operational Excellence Manager before moving to Western Canada in 2024 to serve as Startup Manager for CGC’s Wheatland plant and support the business as Production Engineer. “I’m excited to step into this role and work more closely with our teams across Western Canada,” said Sean Maynard, Plant Manager, Western Canada at CGC. “Surrey, Port Kells, Calgary and Winnipeg each play an important role in how we serve builders across the region every day. I’m looking forward to supporting those teams and continuing to strengthen how we deliver for our customers.”Mr. Maynard’s appointment comes as CGC continues to invest in Canadian manufacturing capacity. The company has committed nearly $325 million to major projects including the Wheatland wallboard facility in Alberta and the revitalization of the Little Narrows gypsum quarry in Nova Scotia, both expected to begin operations this year. Together with CGC’s existing facilities across the country, these investments will strengthen a national network that supplies materials used in homes, hospitals, schools, transit projects and workplaces across Canada. In 2025, CGC also expanded its offering through the acquisition of Imperial Building Products, adding steel framing and trim capabilities to its broader building systems portfolio.The official opening of the Wheatland plant is planned for mid-June.
