CGC Launches the Sheetrock® Brand UltraLight PRO Panel
OAKVILLE, ON—Feb. 1, 2025—CGC is proud to announce the launch* of its latest breakthrough product, the 1/2 in. Sheetrock® Brand UltraLight PRO Panels. This revolutionary gypsum panel sets a new standard in the industry, offering significant advancements in durability, weight and environmental impact.The new UltraLight PRO Panels are CGC’s lightest 1/2 in. (12.7 mm) gypsum panels to date, with a weight reduction of up to 8.9 per cent. Utilizing CGC's proprietary technology, these panels provide enhanced durability with strengthened edges, significantly minimizing fastener blowouts, edge damage and corner damage. This innovation ensures a longer-lasting, more reliable product for both new constructions and repair or remodel projects, while making handling and installation more efficient and less labour-intensive.
The new UltraLight PRO Panels also contribute to a remarkable decrease in greenhouse gas emissions. The combination of a lighter product and the use of renewable electricity in its manufacturing, will shrink greenhouse gas emissions by up to 37 per cent (or up to 77 kg CO2e/MSF), compared with the current industry average for a 1/2 in. gypsum board panel.
