A modern hospital demands more than just clean lines and clinical efficiency—it needs to work hard for the people inside it. The redevelopment of Dartmouth General Hospital, Nova Scotia’s most ambitious healthcare upgrade in recent years, is a prime example. Covering more than 162,000 square feet, the project included a major expansion and significant renovations to improve capacity, comfort, and care delivery.Architects at DIALOG set the tone with a vision for a space that enabled quality community healthcare while building sustainability, targeting LEED® Silver certification. CGC ceiling solutions and our responsive team helped bring that vision to life by delivering collaborative expertise and high quality products.In patient rooms, Mars™ Acoustical Panels made a measurable impact. With a high Ceiling Attenuation Class (CAC), these panels significantly reduce sound transfer between spaces—enhancing privacy and supporting recovery. As part of our Ecoblueprint™ portfolio, they also help meet green building goals without sacrificing design or performance.It was vital that our solutions enabled the use of the space. In the high-traffic main lobby, Panz™ Metal Ceiling Panels in Flat White with perforation A116 offered both durability and acoustic relief, bringing a sleek finish that can stand up to the demands of a busy public space. Specialized environments like labs and MRI rooms were outfitted with Clean Room™ Acoustical Panels and the AX grid system to maintain stringent hygiene and air quality standards—crucial in clinical settings where every detail matters.
Contractors on-site needed more than just high-performing materials to get access to this important space to the public. They needed smart solutions as well. Our Drywall Suspension System installs faster than traditional methods. Panels used like Mars™ Acoustical Ceiling Panels, Olympia™ Micro™ Acoustical Panels, and Panz™ Metal Ceiling Panels feature no directional patterns, enabling Southeast Drywall to streamline installation while maintaining structural integrity and design consistency throughout.Dartmouth General Hospital now stands as a benchmark for healthcare spaces built for the future.
